On June 2nd, I was honored to present in private recital, Clay Smith, my student of five years. This remarkable and gifted young man delighted the large audience with an ambitious program consisting of: Bach's Invention No. 14, Hendel's Sonatina, Beethoven's Sonata in C Minor. Second Movement, Chopin's Polonaise in G Minor, Tchaikovsky's Song of the Lark, Ravel's Sonatine, Second Movement, Satie's Gymnopedie No. 1, Hayes' The Battle Belongs to The Lord and Bring Back the Glory, and Schmidt's All of Me. For an encore, Clay played music from Pirates of the Caribbean....complete with an eye patch!
This program not only demonstrated Clay's mastery of the extremely varied material, it also showcased his extraordinary musicality!
I am grateful for the opportunity to work with Clay and count him - and his wondrrfully supportive family - as friends.
I am grateful to Clay's aunt for providing the YouTube videos!
